Back to LA life

The great adventure to Mesa, AZ for Thanksgiving was good. It was truly nice to get out of LA for a bit. I forget how clean air can truly make you feel better. On top of that, being a big city boy, it always boggles my mind at nightfall to see there are so many friggin' stars!

It was also nice to see Tiffany's family again! They are so nice and truly friendly. It was a relief the most controversial subject to come up was Kansas versus Denver.

Back home again and it was sort of nice to walk in the door to our place a take a deep breath. Once again I am in limbo as far as PA jobs go and am focusing on audition submissions. Today I got work that I have been cast in another short film. Sort of a Rosencrantz and Gildenstern duo, reappearing throughout the film. It should be fun.

I am also turning my focus towards grad school applications again. The leading school, MCAD, was my single choice in last years trial run. The difficulty I am facing is what to do differently. I have done virtually no freelance work this year, what with moving and settling in LA. Ergo, my portfolio is still about the same. I am open for suggestions on that count.

For now, that is all...

The phone

It's funny to me how my life literally revolves around my phone. I have been out pursuing acting work now for a few years in both Chicago and now LA. Now more than ever, it seems life can turn on a dime the second the phone rings. One minute you are going to the gym, the next you're rescheduling an entire afternoon to audition for the role of Darth Maul at Disneyland (true story).

Today was one of those days. I got a call to come down to Santa Monica to record lines for a commercial for Shout I did. It was last minute and ended up not happening. None the less, it was a brush of the excitement that happens as an actor. You are just perpetually waiting for THAT call. The one that will kick it all off for you. Or in the least, help you pay rent this month.

I am grateful though. Via technology, I am not bound to my house waiting by the phone. I am free to move about the cabin, if you will. I can carry on my tasks as a struggling actor with the promise just a grab away. Call me... I am always here for you.

To begin with...

So in effort to perhaps try a more sincere blog, I am switching from my previous blog. We shall see how well I can maintain. I have been inspired from the great Duo Team site.

Another preface to explain at go, if you will is the blog name. Those that know me well will perhaps recognize the name. Others will hopefully just get a laugh or smirk, I don't care which. In brief, Captain Stupie is my beloved, long-to-come-into-fruition character. He is "defender of the obvious." This is a bold endeavor to take on, but I will try.

As of this pioneer debut, I will have been living in the City of Angels now for just over 4 months now. Things have been good thus far. One Internet commercial for Shout detergent and an independent film spot. I will elaborate next time.

Good to be here!
