Tour and Home

The National Theatre for Children tour in Colorado ended last Thur. for Scott and I. It was super fun and we had a great time. It was amazing to watch the show come together. While it was nice to have just a week to do the show, the sad part was feeling like we were just hitting a stride when it concluded. Scotty is a fantastic tour partner and great on stage to work with. The benefit to having so much history together, not only doing this kind of show, was a real trust and connection. Respectively, we threw some pretty wild curves at each other... occassionally on purpose. While the characters and lines were at times ridiculous, there was no denying that we were out there giving what we had and having a good time doing it. I don't care if it's "Showdown at Dry Gulch" or Hamlet, there is not much more you could ask for from performers. I have been on a pulpit lately bemoaning the cliche and half-ass performances I have seen lately. I am not saying we were flawless, but we were anything lazy. Alright... soap box is going away before I can get both feet on it.

It was also a treat to be home for Mother's Day. Mom made a simple request. She wanted me to cook breakfast and Dad to cook dinner. I hunted around online and decided to try Crunchy Cinnamon French Toast. As my folks like to get up like farmers, I prepped everything the night before. It went great and Mom seemed very pleased and full. We drove around in the Jeep with the top down most of the day before coming home for Dad's end of the deal. Now I am not saying my French Toast was better than his steaks... mostly because I have no idea. All in all it was a great day!

The rest of the trip was a blur. We got to see a lot of our home state. It was great to see Scott's new place in Denver and definitely set the home jealousy in motion. I was able to go see a couple Rockies games, get up to Blackhawk twice, and see my adorable niece a few times as well. I am proud to say that Sydney said "Troy" while I was there. Oh sure I prompted her a little, but she said it. I have witnesses. I also got to hit an audition set up by my Denver agent, Big Fish Talent, towards the end of the trip.

Sadly, I did not do as well as I would have liked and ironically ended up not landing the "waiter" role in the commercial. It was good energy and a decent lesson in prep.

Now I am back in Chicago and looking forward to moving with Tiff to our new place in Lakeview. We are moving in to Noah, Jason, and Scott's old place. It will be the most space Tiff and I have had together ever. It will likely be quite empty for a long time since we ditched tons of stuff each time we crossed the country in just our cars. Additionally, my few remaining belongings are in my parents basement in Colorado. It will be fun getting some new stuff, but also not being surrounded by too much clutter.

Finally, I am excited to shoot my scene for the feature film this Sat. It will officially make me a "hoodlum" on a new professional level. Hell, I have never had a script FedEx'ed to me for any villain. Additionally my friend Jack from New York will be here this weekend. All in all it should be a fantastic weekend.
